Holbrook is a suburban Long Island hamlet built out largely in the postwar decades, and the housing stock reflects that. Expect a lot of ranches, high ranches, split levels, Cape Cods and center-hall colonials on flat, rectangular lots, most with private driveways, attached or detached garages and fenced rear yards. Streets are generally curbed subdivision roads rather than a gridded village center, with trees that have had decades to fill in. Later infill and rebuilt homes appear among the older houses, and many of the original builder houses have been expanded over the years with dormers, rear additions, finished basements and updated siding, roofs and windows. Sunrise Highway crosses the area and shapes how the residential streets connect to it.
